What is MGNJA?

The Miss Gay New Jersey Association (MGNJA, Inc.) is the driving
force which empowers The Beacon Light Fund.

What is the Beacon Light Fund?

BEACON LIGHT is a fund that offers small financial help to people
living with AIDS or disabling HIV disease. Funding is made from fund
raising events through out the year and are used to help pay providers
directly for:

• Rent
• Utility and phone bills
• Special medical equipment and supplies
• Some home care services
• Other expenses deemed necessary

Who Benefits?

BEACON LIGHT helps men, women and children of all ethnic groups
and sexual orientation. Current estimates indicate that approximately
one-third of people diagnosed with AIDS or disabling HIV disease will
exhaust their financial resources quickly and live at a subsistent level.
Typically, these people rely on county, state or federal assistance for
support. These are the people we want to help. Any person living
within the New York City/New Jersey metropolitan area (which
includes the state of New Jersey, the five boroughs of New York city
and twenty-five miles of eastern Pennsylvania) and has a monthly
income of $1200 or less may qualify for emergency assistance from
BEACON LIGHT. Application is made either by the afflicted person,
a social or hospital worker, or a person with durable power of
attorney. Once eligibility is established, we make every effort to
provide financial assistance as quickly as possible. All inquiries and
grants are kept in strictest confidence.

How Does the Fund Work?

MGNJA, Inc., a volunteer-driven, non-profit, non-political and
tax-exempt organization, administers BEACON LIGHT. We rely solely
on the generous support of community individuals and community
businesses. Our funding is derived from special fund raising events
and benefits. The amount of money we offer in grant is driven by
the amount of money we raise.

BEACON LIGHT needs financial support like donations to ensure
that as many people as possible can receive direct and immediate
financial assistance. Cash, check, VISA or MasterCard are accepted.
Bequests, corporate or foundation grants, or other monetary gifts
are greatly needed and appreciated. MGNJA, Inc. is a non-profit
501(c)3 Federal Tax-exempt organization. Any donation in the name of
BEACON LIGHT or MGNJA, Inc. is fully deductible as allowed by law.
